A handcrafted replica of the old Kinsale cloak, seen here in 100% Wool with satin linings. It comes with its own hood, arm / hand openings in the front panels and a large collar. Worn up to the turn of the 20th century by the women of Ireland. A glamorous and traditional cloak for all ages and all occasions. We have made the hood detachable for cloak with collar wear only, or so you can have several hoods with one cloak. The cloak fastens at neck with hook n' eye and two covered buttons (buttons optional) and the collar can have lining side facing up or down. It is available in all our fabrics except the Celtic Bouclés. Please remember to give full height, dress size and/or bust & chest measurements.

The West Cork (Kinsale) Cloak and Hood can be viewed in several museums located throughout Ireland, in Dublin, Cork and Kinsale. Siobhan Wear handcrafts these full, warm, glamorous traditional cloaks and capes in Bandon, the Gateway to West Cork . These cloaks were traditionally made by the mother for the daughter as her wedding present on her wedding day. These handcrafted cloaks were often the only outerwear apparel women had and were often used as a covering at night in the thatched cottages in Ireland .
